A method and apparatus for detecting the presence of surface corrosion under insulation on a piping structure employs artificially generated, broadband acoustic sound waves to interrogate the piping structure. The sound waves are coupled into the piping structure and detected after they have propagated through and interacted with a portion of the piping structure. The amplitude of RMS voltage signals indicative of the detected sound waves is used to determine whether or not surface corrosion is present. Highly corroded pipes have been shown to yield relatively low RMS voltage signals whereas the lack of corrosion yields relatively high RMS voltage signals.
一种用于绝缘层下检测管道结构表面腐蚀是否存在的方法和装置,该装置采用人工生成的,宽带声波来探寻管道结构。声波耦合到管道结构,在声波已经穿过并和管道部分结构相作用后再检测。表示所探测声波的RMS电压信号的幅值,用于确定表面腐蚀是否存在。已经证明高度腐蚀的管道产生会产生相对较低的RMS电压信号,而缺乏腐蚀的管道产生相对高的RMS电压信号。
